Sunscreen all by myself!

Today I am going to make some homemade sunscreen. I have a little 3 year old redhead that's allergic to store bought sunscreen so we're trying a mix of recipes that I have researched from the interwebs.

Here's my recipe.
1/4 C. Shea Butter
1/4 C. Coconut oil
2 Tbsp Zinc Oxide
3 Tbsp Aloe Vera
1/2 tsp Vitamin E

Melt it all down in a double boiler making sure not to bring it above 90 degrees or the shea butter can get a gritty texture.

The recipes I researched also said to add some essential oils for a pretty scent but I don't want to because my daughter has such sensitive skin. The most expensive ingredient was the Vitamin E at $12 for 1 ounce and it was kind of hard to find some that didn't have any other ingredients in it.

Painted cloth drawers

So last night I decided that these plain fabric drawers that we have need a bit of class. lol And I've fallen in love with all the bird and tree silhouettes that I've seen on pinterest so I decided to go with that idea. I only got two painted last night but I thought I would should you anyhow.

 

When I get the third done, I'll snap a pic of them all together. I love painted branches because it gives you so much freedon. That's not a mess up, that's just another branch!

First day of winter quarter

First day of winter quarter today. I'm so excited for this quarter. That's how it always starts out though. Ask me in 8 weeks how excited I am when I'm pulling out my hair and screaming at anyone who dares speak to me. I'm taking Early Childhood Education and Astronomy. Both look like they're going to be a lot of fun.

Ok, so back to figuring out this blogging thing. Lets try to add a photo again since it wouldn't let me before. I'll pick on my kid for this one..... wait for it.... Yep didn't work. Obviously. Let's try a link. Saw a video this morning that I found kind of inspiring and now I was to send letters out to a bunch of strangers. Love Ted Talks! Well that seemed to work. You get a link. No pic. I'll see what I can do tomorrow.

I don't blog... or I never have before but I want to share some the stuff I make. Maybe this will show what all my clutter is for. :) Lets see if I can figure this stuff out.
